Hello!

I’m Bea, the founder and editor of LAVRYS magazine. I’m currently in my final year of my Fashion Journalism BA.

This is me! :)

While studying the fashion industry and getting to know its inner workings, I noticed a lack of representation for queer women and nonbinary people in print and digital magazines.

LAVRYS is a lesbian-owned, lesbian-made magazine that considers what the community really wants. Our readers are the most important part of the magazine, with content determined and guided by you! Keep up to date with our social media to see what you can do to be a part of this.

Intersectionality is one of LAVRYS’s key values, and the importance of exploring lesbian identity through different perspectives is what inspired me to make this magazine. The lesbian identity is so multifaceted, and being reduced to stereotypes and fetishisation is something I know many of us are tired of.

Currently, LAVRYS is preparing its first ever issue. Issue 1 will explore themes of guilt, shame, community and belonging.

Growing up in a small town in Merseyside, it took me years to overcome the shame of feeling like I didn’t fit in. Realising that I wasn’t the only one feeling like this was a huge turning point in my journey with accepting my sexuality. I want LAVRYS to help others like me find people like them and show that we’re not alone in this experience.
